Burial & Cremation

While sometimes a loved one makes it clear whether they would like to be buried or cremated, this decision is quite often left to surviving family members.

When this happens, the decision process can be overwhelming.

If you’re having trouble bearing the burden on your own, here are a few key points about each option:

Burial Option

Traditional burial is a common method of memorializing a loved one. During the burial process, the body of the deceased will be respectfully prepared for burial and presence at the memorial ceremony or service. In some cases, family members choose to view the body in an open-casket service, while others prefer the deceased be present in a closed casket.

The family of the deceased choose a casket for the burial and the gravesite is marked with a headstone or unique memorial. After the burial, the gravesite can be an important place for friends, family members, and loved ones to gather, grieve, and remember for years to come.

Cremation Option

Cremation is an alternative yet no less respectful form of memorialization. After a cremation, the friends and family members of the deceased will receive the cremated remains, and deciding where to put these remains can be therapeutic.

While many choose to bury the remains in a cemetery plot, other people choose to keep the remains close by in a beautiful urn or to scatter them in the special places their loved one enjoyed the most.
